How to Build Your PlanetOIT Profile
Did you know that you can increase networking opportunities and connect with coworkers when you build your PlanetOIT profile? Filling out your profile helps you and your colleagues discover OITers with similar skill sets, interests, and hobbies.
Need an expert on APIs, SaaS, or 508 compliance? Search for specific colleagues and find subject matter experts on an array of topics in the OIT profile directory. Think of your profile as the scaled down LinkedIn of PlanetOIT. Check out this example if you’re not sure what to write.
Visit PlanetOIT and log in using your EUA credentials to get started:
- Navigate to the PlanetOIT homepage at https://planetoit.cms.gov/ and click CMS login in the upper right corner to access profile options. Find out how easy it is to log in by watching this two-minute instructional video.
- Click the person icon in the upper right corner and select Edit Profile.
- Provide your First Name and Last Name in the designated fields if it is missing.
- Upload a picture of yourself by clicking Choose File. Or, you can remain an astronaut if you prefer not to add a photo.

- Provide your Work Email Address and Work Phone Number.
- Select your Organization from the dropdown menu (e.g., Enterprise Architecture and Data Group, Division of Data Strategy).

- Fill in your Workplace Interests, such as “Product Management,” by typing in a term and selecting the choice that mostly closely matches it. You may provide up to six Workplace Interests.
- Lastly, if you’d like to provide your time zone, select the appropriate choice from the Time zone dropdown menu in the Locale settings section.
