Juneteenth: Freedom Day Video
What is Juneteenth? Why is it celebrated? How do we commemorate this holiday?
In June 2022, as Juneteenth cemented its place in the nation, members of OIT’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Coalition shared their unique answers to these questions in an effort to open the discussion and promote education around this momentous holiday.
The members also shared their personal experiences and recited poetry that conveys the emotional and physical state of Black men and women across the United States. These poems are a way of connecting with an experience that may not be one's own.
