Enterprise Architecture: Manage Change, Don't Be Managed By Change

Enterprise Architecture is a methodology for documenting everything the enterprise does and then presenting it from a birdʼs eye view. It captures the interconnections between business processes, data, systems, and technologies that keep CMS mission-focused. This knowledge helps our CMS partners achieve a more optimal alignment between people, process, and technology.

CMSʼs critical healthcare landscape is vast, complicated, and ever-changing that often leads to fragmented or duplicative efforts. Applying Enterprise Architecture practices, the Division of Enterprise Architecture (DEA) helps you manage change (legislative, operational, system-related, or otherwise) and understand how various complexities fit into the larger CMS landscape. DEA partners with you to identify potential solutions, recognize possible issues, and realize benefits. We do so by tailoring each engagement and providing customized documentation and visualizations to meet your unique needs.

As one customer said, “DEA gave us a new view into our program and made sure we had what we needed to succeed. Thanks DEA for giving us a jump start!”

If youʼre ready to manage change and understand how your work fits into CMS's Enterprise, find out what happens when you collaborate with DEA.  As we like to say, “Synergy happens when you partner with DEA.”

Visit DEA’s CMSShare webpage or contact Enterprise Architecture at Enterprise.Architecture@cms.hhs.gov for more information.
